Introduction

Potassium chloride is an important fertilizer needed for plant growth. It has a fast fertilizer effect and can be absorbed by the soil. It is not easy to lose. Applying a proper amount of potassium fertilizer can make crop stems grow firm, prevent lodging, promote flowering and firmness, and enhance drought resistance, cold resistance, and The ability to resist pests and diseases is therefore of great significance for high agricultural yields. Potassium chloride is the main agricultural potash fertilizer variety in China. Due to abundant mineral resources, simple production methods, high potassium content and low cost, potassium chloride is still the world's most important potash fertilizer variety, accounting for approximately the total global potash fertilizer sales. More than 90% of the amount, 50% of which are applied directly, and the rest is mainly used to make compound (mixed) fertilizers.

Uses

Mainly used in the inorganic industry, it is the basic raw material for the production of various potassium salts or alkalis such as potassium hydroxide, potassium sulfate, potassium nitrate, potassium chlorate, potassium sulphate, etc. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as a diuretic and a medicine for preventing and treating potassium deficiency. The dye industry is used to produce G salt, reactive dyes, etc. Agriculture is a kind of potash fertilizer. Its fertilizer effect is fast, and it can be applied directly to farmland to increase the moisture in the lower layer of the soil and have the effect of drought resistance. However, it is not suitable to be used in saline soil and to tobacco, sweet potato, sugar beet and other crops. Potassium chloride has a taste similar to sodium chloride (bitterness), and is also used as an additive for low-sodium salt or mineral water. In addition, it is also used to manufacture muzzle or muzzle flame suppressant, steel heat treatment agent, and for photography. It can also be used in medicine, scientific applications, food processing, and some potassium chloride can be substituted for sodium chloride in table salt to reduce the possibility of high blood pressure.

Preparation method

In the recrystallization method, industrial potassium chloride is added to a dissolving tank filled with distilled water for dissolution, and then a decolorant, arsenic removal agent, and heavy metal removal agent are added to purify the solution. After precipitation, filtration, cooling and crystallization, solid-liquid separation, and drying, The finished product of edible potassium chloride is obtained.

Toxicological information

Oral overdose of potassium chloride is toxic; the median lethal dose is about 2500 mg/kg (similar to the toxicity of ordinary salt). The median lethal dose of intravenous injection is about 100 mg/kg, but its serious side effects on the myocardium are worth noting. High doses can cause cardiac arrest and sudden death.
