Lactofen Molecular Structure
Synonyms 2-Ethoxy-1-methyl-2-oxoethyl 5-(2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy)-2-nitrobenzoate; Ethyl O-[5-(2-chloro-α,α,α-trifluoro-p-tolyloxy)-2-nitrobenzoyl]-DL-lactate; 1-ethoxy-1-oxopropan-2-yl 5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoate; 1-ethoxy-1-oxobutan-2-yl 5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoate
The drug is absorbed by the stem and leaves of the stem, and the cell membrane is destroyed and the weeds are dead.
Lactofen is a complex ester of acifluorfen and is a nitrophenyl ether selective herbicide. It is used in postemergence applications to certain crops which are resistant to its action.
Lactofen is applied as a foliar spray and is commonly used to control broadleaved weeds in soybean, cereals, potatoes and peanuts. It may be combined with oil or fertilizer adjuvants and surfactants. Some formulations include solvents such as xylenes and cumene.
As for soybean and in seedlings after 2 ~ 4 leaf stage, broadleaf weeds basically a homogeneous. Most strains of high less than 125px, 24% EC with 3 ~ 7.5mL/100m2, to spray water weed stems and leaves. After application may have different degrees of damage to soybean leaves, but the late growth of normal. When temperature and soil moisture were favorable to weed growth, the activity of the grass was high.
Lactofen is slightly to non-toxic to humans when ingested or inhaled. It can cause skin irritation including reddening, swelling and possibly corrosive burns. It is a severe eye irritant and can cause permanent damage to eyes when there is sufficient exposure.
It was found to be practically non-toxic to the species of bird that were studied. Toxicity to fish and other aquatic organisms varied and it was eliminated in fish within fourteen days. It is of low toxicity to bees.
Lactofen has a very low solubility in water and is not expected to contaminate surface waters. It binds tightly to soil and is then broken down in between one and seven days.
